CHICAGO (November 17, 2016) – National Geographic Traveler magazine today announced its annual Best of the World list, featuring 21 destinations in 2017. Finland was named one of six countries in the nature category, highlighting its Arctic Circle, national parks, wilderness and hiking areas.
“We are extremely honored to be recognized by National Geographic Traveler as one of their top destinations for 2017,” said Eva Kiviranta, Visit Finland's PR and Media Coordinator UK, USA. “Finland is celebrating its 100 year anniversary in 2017 and it’s the perfect time to plan a visit to this gem in the north that offers beautiful lakes, forests and the thrill of witnessing the Aurora Borealis. Interested travelers can also take advantage of our StopOver program and explore Finland from 5 hours to 5 days before continuing their trip elsewhere in Europe.”
National Geographic Traveler’s global network of experts, writers and explores, were involved in the competitive process of nominations for the highly anticipated annual list of Best of the World. The destinations are featured in the December 2016/January 2017 issue of Traveler magazine, available on newsstands nationwide starting November 29. As of November 17, the listing is available online at www.nationalgeographic.com/travel/features/best-trips-2017/.
